PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Liam Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jermain Leaseau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Radioactive-Imagine Dragons. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Liam Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jermain Leaseau!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


It looks like Jermain Leaseau has been cut.
Leaseau fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Anderson throws the kick towards the body but Leaseau avoids it.
Anderson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Anderson with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Anderson shoots in and drives through. Leaseau sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Leaseau or perhaps it was just good defense by Anderson which made him look bad.
Leaseau throws a sloppy head kick and Anderson moves out of range easily.
Leaseau shoots in looking for a takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl out of it but Leaseau keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Liam Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jermain Leaseau.
Anderson connects with a jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Anderson shoots in but no luck this time.
Anderson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Leaseau as he avoids it easily.
Leaseau misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Anderson or perhaps it was just good defense by Leaseau which made him look bad.

and Leaseau counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Leaseau uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Anderson.

Anderson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Leaseau's head.

Anderson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Anderson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Anderson scores with a sloppy right hand. Leaseau should have avoided that one.
Anderson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Leaseau will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Anderson leaves Leaseau with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Anderson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Leaseau looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Anderson!

Leaseau thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Anderson is looking for a sweep.

Anderson is not content to let Leaseau control the position.
Leaseau is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Leaseau decides to stand back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Anderson is defended easily by Leaseau.
Leaseau throws a leg kick but Anderson moved away.
Anderson shoots in looking for a takedown but Leaseau manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Anderson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Leaseau tries to clinch there but Anderson circles away.
Anderson thuds a left hand into Leaseau's body.
Anderson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Anderson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Leaseau misses with a takedown
and Anderson counters with a two punch combo.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Leaseau tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Anderson defends well and Leaseau ends up having to push Anderson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
I was talking to Anderson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Leaseau tightens his grip and picks Anderson up, before dumping him to the ground. Anderson manages to land in guard.

Anderson wants to control the position but Leaseau says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Leaseau prevents Anderson from improving his position.
Anderson is trying to control but can't.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Leaseau wants to pass the guard but Anderson is defending well.

Leaseau drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Anderson throws a series of punches but Leaseau moves out of range.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Liam Anderson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Leaseau lands with a left to the head.
Leaseau gets underhooks to prevent Anderson's takedown attempt.

Leaseau pulls guard effortlessly.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Leaseau is on top in guard.
Leaseau stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Leaseau is trying to work for a kimura but Anderson is defending well.
Leaseau is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Leaseau might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Anderson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jermain Leaseau hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Anderson scores with a nice strike.


That has opened up Jermain Leaseau's cut even more.
Anderson misses with a straight right.
Anderson lands the left hand.
Leaseau fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Anderson clobbers Leaseau with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Nice sprawl there from Anderson as Leaseau shoots in.
Anderson lunges at Leaseau with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Leaseau's hand.


The cut above Jermain Leaseau's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Anderson is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Anderson lands a big uppercut and Leaseau crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Leaseau looks OK. Anderson waves Leaseau back to his feet!


Leaseau is rocked!
Leaseau changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Anderson tries to avoid it but Leaseau manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Anderson to the ground. Anderson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Leaseau is still on wobbly legs! Can Anderson finish him?
Leaseau is breathing heavily.
Anderson cracks Leaseau with a left hook right on the temple and Leaseau goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Anderson lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Leaseau is OK!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Liam Anderson!
A relieved looking Liam Anderson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
