PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Cabrillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that David Taylor was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Cabrillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Taylor !
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabrillo cracks Taylor with a good jab.
Taylor lunges at Cabrillo with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Cabrillo's hand.
Cabrillo works over Taylor 's head and body with a nice combination.
Cabrillo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Cabrillo throws a wild body kick that Taylor sees coming a mile off.
Cabrillo misses with an uppercut.
Cabrillo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Taylor is fending him off so far but Cabrillo persists. Nope, Taylor circles away and we're back to standing.
Taylor wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Cabrillo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cabrillo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Taylor felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cabrillo throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Taylor is trying to control Cabrillo's posture but Cabrillo avoids it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cabrillo works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Taylor avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Cabrillo.

Taylor is looking to regain half guard here but Cabrillo keeps moving and retains side control.

We've been hearing that Cabrillo has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Taylor winds up and cracks Cabrillo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cabrillo is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Taylor tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cabrillo knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Juan Cabrillo will probably get the nod.

A big left from Cabrillo misses.
Taylor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cabrillo was well out of range. Poor timing from Taylor .
Taylor throws a looping overhand right but Cabrillo ducks down to avoid it.
Juan Cabrillo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cabrillo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Taylor 's waist but Taylor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cabrillo off to one side.
Cabrillo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Cabrillo shoots in but no luck this time.
Taylor throws a lazy right hand but Cabrillo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Taylor fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cabrillo sprawls well initially but Taylor persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Cabrillo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cabrillo, as that shot connected.

Cabrillo looks to score with a jab to the body but Taylor is just out of range.

Taylor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cabrillo as he jumps to the side.

Cabrillo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Taylor throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cabrillo sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Cabrillo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Taylor is trying to defend but Cabrillo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

David Taylor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Cabrillo dives in and grabs Taylor 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Taylor pushes down on Cabrillo's head and hops out.

Cabrillo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Taylor sprawls well. Taylor wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cabrillo gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Cabrillo.
I think Cabrillo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
