Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Forbes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hunter Forbes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Francis DeMontford and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gordon clinches.

Gordon gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Forbes is controlling Gordon's posture.
Forbes really is a fat lump.
Forbes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gordon.
Gordon trying to stand up but can't free himself from Forbes's guard.
Gordon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gordon throwing strikes but missing.
Forbes is adopting a defensive guard.

Hunter Forbes has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Gordon closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gordon wants to stand but Forbes has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Forbes is refusing to be controlled, as Gordon sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gordon escapes and gets back to his feet.

Gordon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Forbes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Gordon laying and praying for a moment but Forbes takes advantage and regains half guard.
Well, if Gordon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Gordon is trying to control the action in half guard but Forbes is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jake Gordon hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Gordon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Forbes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Gordon stops Forbes from standing up.
Gordon trying to control but Forbes is working from the bottom.
Gordon wants to stand but Forbes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Forbes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Hunter Forbes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Gordon tries to clinch there but Forbes circles away.

and Forbes counters with a low kick, right behind Gordon 's knee.

Gordon drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gordon won't allow Forbes to get back to his feet.
Gordon throws a strike but Forbes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Forbes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gordon to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gordon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Gordon is looking to work some ground and pound but Forbes has wrist control.
Gordon with a flurry of punches that miss.
Gordon trying to control the position from guard on top but Forbes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Forbes wants to sweep here but Gordon controlling him for the moment.
Gordon postures up in Forbes's guard and throws a big left but Forbes blocks it.
Forbes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gordon is controlling him.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Gordon trying to control but Forbes is working from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jake Gordon wasn't active enough on the ground.
Gordon tries a head kick but it misses.

Gordon gets a takedown into half guard.
Gordon prevents Forbes from standing back up.
Forbes is refusing to be controlled, as Gordon sits in half guard.
Gordon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Gordon tries to stand and escape but Forbes actually recovers to full guard.
Gordon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Forbes is keeping the position for now.
Forbes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Forbes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Forbes landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Forbes is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Jake Gordon has got the better of the ground game so far.

Gordon keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Gordon is looking to improve his position.
Forbes sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Forbes working the head and body with strikes.
Forbes content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Forbes throwing shots but Gordon is blocking nicely.

Jake Gordon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Gordon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Forbes to the mat! Forbes manages to get full guard.

Gordon throws a big elbow that misses.
Gordon looking to sit in guard and control but Forbes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gordon is looking to stand up but Forbes isn't so interested in that idea.
Gordon is trying to control the position but Forbes postures up.
Forbes not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jake Gordon.

Forbes moves into range and clinches up with Gordon.
Forbes tries for a takedown. No joy.

Gordon has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Forbes is trying to keep an underhook but Gordon manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Gordon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Forbes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gordon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Forbes regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Gordon.

Jake Gordon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gordon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
