PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Fondelier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doe comes to the cage accompanied by Treasure Island. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matt Fondelier!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Fondelier. Doe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fondelier uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Doe.

Doe moves into range and clinches up with Fondelier.
Doe pushes off an throws an elbow but Fondelier leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
A shot in the inside from Doe.
Fondelier dodges an elbow strike from Doe.
Doe looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Doe throws an elbow that misses.
Fondelier blocks the elbow strike.
Doe throws an elbow but it misses.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Doe just misses with a elbow thrown towards Fondelier's brow.
Doe throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Doe creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Fondelier's defenses.


It looks like Matt Fondelier has been cut.
Doe pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Doe throws an elbow but misses.
Fondelier's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Fondelier has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Doe blocking some punches.
Fondelier looking to slow down the pace here.
Doe lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Fondelier's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Fondelier's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Doe as Fondelier tries to tie him up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fondelier takes an elbow to the forehead.
Doe throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Fondelier tries to break free but Doe pushes him back against the cage.
Doe definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Fondelier blocks the elbow strike.
Fondelier lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Doe.
Doe gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Doe dips a shoulder and cracks Fondelier with a mighty uppercut! Fondelier falls back against the cage and Doe unloads with a barrage of strikes! Fondelier is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Doe screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Doe!
A relieved looking John Doe thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
