PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damo Dustup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel has chosen Ain't No Sunshine as his entrance music. On his way into the ring it seems that Damo Dustup has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Damo Dustup seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Damo Dustup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Steel!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Steel thows a left - swing and a miss!
Dustup shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Steel pinned against the ropes. Steel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dustup throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dustup slips a jab from Steel.
Steel tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dustup shoots for a takedown but Steel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dustup looks to throw the jab but Steel is out of range.
Dustup avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Steel throws a lazy right hand but Dustup sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Dustup has taken the fight to the clinch.

Steel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Steel clinches.
Dustup drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Steel gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damo Dustup. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Steel swings wildly with an uppercut but Dustup uses good head movement to avoid it.

Steel lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Dustup avoids the elbow strike from Steel, against the ropes.
Steel lands an elbow inside that Dustup shrugs off.
Dustup is trying to drag Steel to the mat but Steel just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Steel.

A nice left hand lands by Steel.

Dustup takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dustup throws a hook to the side of Steel's head but Steel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Steel throws an overhand right that lands on Dustup's shoulder, as Dustup tries to avoid the shot.

Dustup's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Steel connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dustup scrambles back to his feet.

Dustup darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Steel is trying to stand up here but Dustup is controlling him well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Steel has his feet on Dustup's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Steel connects with the punch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dustup lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

A close round but Alex Steel will probably get the nod.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Steel in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Steel has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. So far he's outscoring his opponent in the clinch so it seems to have been worthwhile.

Dustup changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Steel fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Dustup throws a nice looking combination but Steel bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dustup lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Steel circles away quickly and effectively.
Dustup throws a hook but Steel blocks it.
Steel scores with a sloppy right hand. Dustup should have avoided that one.
Steel throws a shot from downtown. Dustup moves away and avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Steel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Steel tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Dustup wants a takedown but no success here.
Dustup is trying to break the clinch but Steel is controlling him.
Steel lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Oh Dustup is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Steel drops Dustup onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Dustup is propped up by the ropes and works his way back to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Steel lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Dustup to his knees! Steel keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Steel!
In his post fight interview, Alex Steel started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
