PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mahlito Jenzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mister Chow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mahlito Jenzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mister Chow!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenzi darts in looking for a takedown but Chow gets double underhooks and turns Jenzi into the cage.
Chow is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jenzi is keeping busy.
Jenzi tries for a takedown. No joy.

Chow breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Chow pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jenzi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jenzi fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mahlito Jenzi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chow swings for the body but Jenzi moves out of range.
Chow misses with a low kick.
Jenzi avoids the head kick by Chow.

Chow gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jenzi to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jenzi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chow controls Jenzi momentarily but Jenzi frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mister Chow was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Chow throws a head kick that misses.
Chow stuffs the takedown attempt from Jenzi. Jenzi gets slowly back to his feet.
Jenzi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chow defends it nicely.

Jenzi gets the takedown into side control.

Jenzi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Chow is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jenzi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Chow has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jenzi but great work by Chow.
Jenzi tries to buck Chow off but Chow is having none of it.
Jenzi is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Chow's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Chow seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Jenzi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chow is working away from the top position though.
Jenzi won't allow Chow to pass to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
It looks like Chow is going to stand back up.

Jenzi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chow pulls his head out easily.
Chow tries to stand and escape but Jenzi is controlling the position.
Chow is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Jenzi is wriggling around trying to escape.
Chow avoids the attempt from Jenzi to control.
Chow is looking to stand but Chow has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Jenzi is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jenzi is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Chow is tapping! Great win for Jenzi!
