Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Marvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marvin has chosen King of Kings by Motorhead as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 47 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brian Maddox!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, King Marvin!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maddox throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Marvin throws a series of punches but Maddox moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Marvin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A telegraphed right hand from Maddox misses the target.
Marvin throws a jab when Maddox was well out of range.
Marvin fails with a takedown attempt.
Marvin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Maddox connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Marvin scrambles back to his feet.
Maddox really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Nice defenses there by Maddox.
Maddox connects with a body shot.
A jab lands there for Maddox.

Marvin looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Maddox is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Maddox lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Marvin tries to get to full guard but Maddox has control of the leg.
Marvin is not content to let Maddox control the position.
Ground and pound from Maddox.
Maddox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marvin keeps working.

Marvin looking for submissions off his back.
Maddox has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marvin regains full guard. Nicely done.

Marvin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maddox doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maddox manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Maddox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marvin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Maddox is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Marvin is looking for a triangle but Maddox pushes his legs off easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Maddox lands a couple of elbows.
Marvin wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Maddox is thwarting Marvin's attempts to control the position.
Maddox wants to take a breather but Marvin is having none of it.
Marvin is trying to get back to full guard.

Maddox is keen to just control but Marvin is a slippery customer.

Maddox is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Marvin!
Maddox fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Marvin tries to reverse the position but Maddox maintains control.
Maddox lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maddox lands a big shot there that rocks Marvin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Marvin is rocked!
Maddox unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Marvin wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Maddox celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brian Maddox!

Brian Maddox seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
