PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walter has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Potter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Walter!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walter has managed to clinch.
Walter is pressed up against the cage. Potter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Walter down to the mat. Walter avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Walter feints and as Potter raises his hands in defense, Walter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Potter keeping moving, preventing Walter from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walter is looking to advance position but Potter has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Walter looks winded!
Potter wants to control the pace but Walter is squirming around nicely.
Walter is looking to get to half guard.
Potter raining down hammerfists from mount.

Potter working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Walter is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walter bucks Potter off and manages to get back to his feet!

Walter gets a clinch.

Walter gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Potter is trying to hold Walter in close to prevent damage but Walter has managed to pass into half guard.
Walter moves nicely into side control.
Walter cracks Potter with a big elbow.
Potter takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Potter definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Walter lands a nice forearm strike.
Potter wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Walter stands up and beckons Potter to his feet.

Walter feints and as Potter raises his hands in defense, Walter changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Walter slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Walter is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Walter is thwarting Potter's attempts to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Walter decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Walter gets a double leg takedown into Potter's guard.
Walter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Potter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Walter throws a big elbow that misses.
Walter works over Potter with some ground and pound from guard.
Walter stays in close to Potter's body and controls the position.
Walter told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Potter looking to control.
Walter slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Walter slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Potter is trying to work for a sweep but Walter has mounted him!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Walter stands up from mount. Strange move.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Walter clinches up with Potter and pushes him back against the cage.

Walter jumps guard.
Potter slips nicely into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Walter dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Potter with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Walter to score with a decent uppercut.

Potter gets caught flat footed, as Walter shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Potter is looking to stand up but Walter isn't so interested in that idea.
Walter advances to half guard.
Potter is trying to get back to full guard.
Walter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Walter scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Walter throwing shots but Potter is blocking nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Walter moves nicely into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walter tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Potter is trying to control Walter's posture but Walter avoids it.
Walter staying calm.
Potter is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Walter connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Potter some visible discomfort.
Potter tries to bench press Walter off him but Walter keeps the position.
Walter lands an elbow.
Walter lands a decent elbow from side control.


Potter is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Walter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Potter, who protects the arm well.
Oh Potter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Walter staying calm.
Potter is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Peter Walter has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Potter takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Walter has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Potter!
Walter looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Potter covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Walter!
