The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russel shoots in and drives through. Cragen sprawls well.
Russel goes for a double leg but Cragen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cragen continues to drive forward.
Cragen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Russel keeps control of Cragen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Our sources have told us that Russel has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Russel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cragen moves out of range as Russel throws a body kick.
Cragen bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Cragen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Russel takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
It looks like Maricue Russel has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cragen has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Russel is on him like a limpet, forcing Cragen back against the cage.

Russel is looking for a kimura but Cragen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Russel to get the leverage.

That was a close round but I would say that Maricue Russel will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Russel counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Russel has taken the fight to the clinch.

Russel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cragen to the mat! Cragen manages to get full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Russel is on top in guard.

Russel shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Russel was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Russel connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cragen some visible discomfort.
Russel has an Americana. Cragen didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Russel is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Russel hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
