PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dre Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boy's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, I'm fat. Dre Parker will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Boy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Dre Parker!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Parker to the ground. Boy is now in Parker's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Boy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Parker preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Boy wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving.

Boy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Boy lands a couple of elbows.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boy cracks Parker with a solid left hand.
Parker has momentary wrist control but Boy slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parker is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Boy seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Parker regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Boy.

Parker has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Boy off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Parker bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Parker lands a glancing blow to the side of Boy's head.

Boy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Parker is staying active underneath Boy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Parker's head.

Boy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Parker sees it coming and defends easily.
Boy is looking to pass Parker's guard but actually Parker recovers to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Parker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Boy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Boy throws a strike but Parker rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Parker decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Boy, up you get!

and Boy counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
An elbow from Boy crashes against the mat.
Boy throws a strike aimed at the side of Parker's head but Parker avoids it well.

Boy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Parker has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Boy but great work by Parker.

Boy is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Boy moves into full guard.
Boy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Parker is one step ahead there.
Boy lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Boy is trying to control the position but Parker postures up.
Parker wants to pass the guard but Boy is keeping the position.
Boy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Parker wants to stand but Boy is controlling his posture from full guard.
Boy trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Boy looking for a sweep. Not yet Boy, not yet.
Boy is working hard here to advance position.
Johnny Boy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Parker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Parker has managed to get both his arms back between Boy's legs - danger averted.
Boy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Parker can do to turn this around?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Parker decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Parker throws a good cross that connects.
Parker will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Boy looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Parker counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Parker has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Boy is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Boy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Parker avoids it really well and circles away.
Parker scores with a jab. Boy acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Parker lands a leg kick that knocks Boy off balance momentarily.
Boy takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Johnny Boy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Parker decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Boy, up you get!
Dre Parker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dre Parker seems to be getting the better of the standup.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Parker leaves Boy with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Boy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Dre Parker.
I think Boy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
