Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Tippin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tippin throws a sloppy head kick and Mir moves out of range easily.
Tippin moves in looking to clinch but Mir pushes him off.
Mir shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tippin but Tippin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mir gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Tippin throws a jab when Mir was well out of range.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tippin. That's going to slow Mir down.
Tippin stuffs the takedown attempt from Mir. Mir gets slowly back to his feet.
Mir stuffs the takedown.
Tippin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mir takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mir displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tippin throws out the jab.
Mir uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tippin.
Mir shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tippin as he jumps to the side.
Pete Tippin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.
Tippin uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mir has time to react.

Tippin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mir sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Tippin throws out a leg kick but Mir moves out of range and Tippin only half commits.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mir is defended easily by Tippin.

Tippin clinches up with Mir and pushes him back against the cage.
Mir changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tippin fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Tippin. Those never looked like landing.

Tippin steps into range and cracks Mir with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Mir flops backwards and Tippin dives into his guard looking to finish!


It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Tippin won't allow Mir to sweep him here.
Mir utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tippin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tippin wants to pass the guard but Mir is keeping the position.

Mir is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mir is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mir has his foot on Tippin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tippin works his way back into a safe position though.

Mir is looking for a sweep. Tippin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tippin is pressing down on Mir's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mir is holding on for now.

Tippin stalling away here and it's allowed Mir to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Tippin throws a strike but Mir rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mir looks for a takedown but Tippin sprawls well.
Mir connects with a right hand. Tippin shakes it off.
Mir dives in and grabs Tippin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tippin pushes down on Mir's head and hops out.
Mir shoots in but Tippin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pete Tippin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Tippin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Tippin stays in close to Mir's body and controls the position.

Mir has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tippin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mir.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mir tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Tippin has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Mir can't escape the position.
Pete Tippin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mir is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mir holds on to Tippin around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

Tippin thows a huge punch but Mir dodges it nicely.
Mir is trying to control but can't.
Tippin is looking to take a break and control but Mir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mir wants to improve his position but Tippin is controlling well.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Tippin lands a nice short elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tippin connects with a nice short shot to Mir's temple.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tippin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mir's guard.

Mir is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tippin pulls his head out easily.
Tippin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Tippin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tippin tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mir counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Tippin circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Mir to the canvas! Mir doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Tippin keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Pete Tippin!
After winning the bout, Pete Tippin thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
