PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Salvador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Theron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salvador comes into the arena with Scorpion Dubstep Theme blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Theron connects with a body shot that sends Salvador's belly button to the back.

Theron gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Theron seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Salvador drops back looking for a leg! Theron is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Theron manages to kick Salvador off! Salvador jumps back into Theron's guard.

Salvador drops back looking for a leg! Theron is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Theron manages to kick Salvador off! Salvador jumps back into Theron's guard.

Theron stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salvador swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Theron keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Salvador's head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Salvador has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Theron is working away from the top position though.

Theron seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Salvador does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charlie Theron dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Salvador closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Theron's guard.

Theron escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Salvador gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Theron manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Salvador manages to get himself to full guard.

Theron got a little sloppy there for a moment and Salvador has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Theron has managed to get both his arms back between Salvador's legs - danger averted.

Theron slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Theron accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Theron has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Salvador to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Theron is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Salvador pulls down on the head and he's put Theron to sleep! This one is all over!
