Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Fjera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Heimo Laakkonen!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laakkonen throws a body punch but Fjera moves out of range.
Fjera looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fjera tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Laakkonen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fjera misses with a hook.
Some wild striking there from Laakkonen.
Fjera moves away from the strike by Laakkonen.
Laakkonen throws a shot from downtown. Fjera moves away and avoids it.
Laakkonen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fjera.
Laakkonen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Laakkonen misses with a looping left.
Fjera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Laakkonen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Laakkonen lands a left and a right that send Fjera crashing to the mat, dazed. Laakkonen thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Fjera is rocked!


It looks like Nick Fjera has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fjera misses with a straight right.
Oh Fjera is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Laakkonen missing with a left hand there. Fjera was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Fjera wants to clinch up but Laakkonen keeps it at a distance.
Fjera seems to have got his legs back now.
Fjera tries to clinch but Laakkonen is having none of it.
Laakkonen swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Fjera feints and as Laakkonen raises his hands in defense, Fjera changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fjera advances position into side control!
Laakkonen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fjera asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Fjera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Laakkonen, who protects the arm well.
Laakkonen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fjera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fjera throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Laakkonen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Fjera asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Fjera lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Laakkonen taking a bit of punishment here - Fjera scoring with strikes.
An elbow from Fjera crashes against the mat.
Laakkonen is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Fjera has hold of Laakkonen's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Laakkonen seems comfortable defending it but Fjera has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Laakkonen is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Laakkonen is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Fjera couldn't care less - he's delighted!
