Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vergil Blanco Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Wexler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wexler comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Go To Sleep - Eminem kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Vergil Blanco Rocha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Wexler!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blanco Rocha tried to score with a low kick but Wexler checks it.
Blanco Rocha thuds his right hand into Wexler's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Wexler closes the distance and clinches up with Blanco Rocha, looking for a takedown. Wexler pushes Blanco Rocha against the cage but Blanco Rocha circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wexler takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wexler ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blanco Rocha moves away.
Blanco Rocha throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Wexler throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Blanco Rocha throws a low kick but Wexler avoids it.
Wexler looks to land a right hand but Blanco Rocha moved out of range.
Blanco Rocha tries to clinch up but Wexler circles away and keeps his distance.

Wexler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Blanco Rocha napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Wexler is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Blanco Rocha has escaped the position, nice work there.
Wexler advances nicely into full mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wexler thowing shots but they're missing.

Wexler cracks Blanco Rocha with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Wexler is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Blanco Rocha is just riding it out for now. Wexler eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wexler looking to sit in guard and control but Blanco Rocha gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wexler controls Blanco Rocha momentarily but Blanco Rocha frees himself.

Wexler lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Wexler wants to control from the top but Blanco Rocha keeps moving.
Blanco Rocha preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Wexler tries to free his leg and advance position but Blanco Rocha is retaining full guard.

Wexler is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Blanco Rocha is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Blanco Rocha has escaped and now he's on top!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wexler is on top in guard.

Wexler wants to control from the top but Blanco Rocha keeps moving.
Wexler is pushing down on Blanco Rocha's leg trying to pass to half guard. Blanco Rocha is fighting to maintain full guard but Wexler has managed to sneak the leg through.
Blanco Rocha is staying active underneath Wexler, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Wexler passes the guard and advances to mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wexler moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Blanco Rocha has worked his arm free - good work by Blanco Rocha!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wexler circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wexler tries to bum rush Blanco Rocha with a series of wild strikes but Blanco Rocha uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wexler. Blanco Rocha does a little dance to reset his feet.

We've been told by Blanco Rocha's head coaches at Facebreaker Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Wexler shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blanco Rocha manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Wexler goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Blanco Rocha rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Wexler's guard! Nice work there by Blanco Rocha!

Wexler had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Blanco Rocha defends it easily.

Shawn Wexler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Wexler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Blanco Rocha is not content to let Wexler control the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wexler in particular looking to stall.
Wexler is just content to waste time from the top position. Blanco Rocha takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Wexler closes the distance and clinches up with Blanco Rocha, looking for a takedown. Wexler pushes Blanco Rocha against the cage but Blanco Rocha circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Vergil Blanco Rocha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Wexler.

Wexler fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Blanco Rocha.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Some bone on bone action there as Wexler checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Wexler cracks Blanco Rocha with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Blanco Rocha throws a chopping leg kick but Wexler manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Shawn Wexler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Wexler winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
