Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bv Rasp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Folignus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Folignus is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Laces Out. Bv Rasp has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bv Rasp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Folignus!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasp just misses with a punch to the body.
Rasp fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Folignus avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rasp just misses with a punch to the body.
Danga de danga de dang - Rasp scores with a four punch combination!
Rasp swings for the body but Folignus moves out of range.
Rasp takes a swing at Folignus's ribcage but misses.
Rasp lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rasp misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Folignus.
Folignus misses with a head kick.
Folignus goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Rasp dives in for a single leg takedown but Folignus sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Folignus lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Rasp gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Rasp is working for a submission of some sort.

Rasp is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Folignus is looking for a sweep. Rasp is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rasp is thwarting Folignus's attempts to control the position.
Folignus manages to get to full guard.
Folignus looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rasp working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Folignus looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rasp has gone for a leg lock! Folignus slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rasp's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Folignus got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rasp has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Folignus has managed to get both his arms back between Rasp's legs - danger averted.

My spies in Nights Watch MMA Academy inform me that Folignus has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Folignus wants to control from the top but Rasp keeps moving.

Folignus sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rasp's guard.
Folignus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Rasp actively working from the bottom here.
Folignus takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Folignus is nestled in close to Rasp, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Folignus wants to free his trapped foot but Rasp is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Folignus wants to pass the guard but Rasp is defending well.
Rasp is staying active underneath Folignus, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rasp is trying to get back to full guard.
Folignus takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Folignus lands with a punch from half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ground and pound from Folignus.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Folignus is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Rasp is trying to get back to full guard.
Rasp is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Folignus jumps into side control!
Rasp is trying to get back to half guard.

Rasp is looking to improve his position.

Rasp is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Folignus pulls his head out easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Folignus winds up and cracks Rasp with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Folignus is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rasp!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Folignus dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Folignus lands with a hook. Rasp tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Rasp keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rasp is looking to wear down Folignus with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Rasp throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Folignus's waist but Folignus gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rasp off to one side.
Folignus with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Folignus pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Rasp feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rasp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Folignus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rasp is working hard here to advance position.
Folignus controls Rasp momentarily but Rasp frees himself.
Rasp trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rasp's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Rasp missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rasp working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Folignus's head.
Rasp will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rasp is looking for a kimura here.
Folignus wants to control but Rasp is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Folignus manages to get to full guard.
Folignus preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Rasp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Folignus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Folignus is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rasp is controlling him.
Rasp passes Folignus's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Rasp is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Folignus is just riding it out for now. Rasp eventually gives up the hold.
Folignus gets back to full guard.

Rasp drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Folignus dives on top into guard.

Folignus avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rasp keeping moving, preventing Folignus from controlling successfully.
Rasp wants to sweep here but Folignus controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rasp working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Folignus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Folignus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Folignus is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Folignus trying to control the position from guard on top but Rasp is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Rasp working for a triangle but Folignus defends it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bv Rasp will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


A looping hook to the body misses from Rasp. Folignus does a little dance to reset his feet.
Folignus lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rasp's sensitive parts.
Folignus tries a low kick but Rasp avoids it.
Rasp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rasp has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Folignus.
Rasp avoids the head kick by Folignus.
Rasp misses with a series of wild punches.
Rasp gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Folignus counters with an inside leg kick.
Rasp misses with a shot to the body
and Folignus counters with an inside leg kick.
Bv Rasp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Folignus cracks Rasp with an open hand slap.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Folignus fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Bv Rasp has been cut.
Folignus throws a nice inside leg kick.
Folignus lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rasp takes a step back to recover.

Folignus throws a head kick but Rasp moves out of range.
Rasp takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.


Rasp is rocked!
Rasp blocks a head kick by Folignus.
Oh Rasp is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rasp circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Folignus. Rasp falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Folignus!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nick Folignus!
Nick Folignus gave a mention to Fury Nutrition Inc. in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
