The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Monroe pinned against the cage. Monroe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Monroe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Preston dives in for a single leg takedown but Monroe sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Monroe wants to break free but Preston has control.

Preston told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Monroe is pressed up against the cage. Preston has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Monroe down to the mat. Monroe avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Monroe tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Preston is able to avoid easily.
Monroe has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Preston tries for a takedown but Monroe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Monroe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Monroe tries a low kick but Preston avoids it.

Monroe throws a good cross that connects.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Preston is rocked!

Monroe grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Preston takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Monroe cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
