PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geghard Karekin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dias comes to the cage accompanied by Hawthorne Heights - Light Sleeper. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dias misses with a body kick.
Dias tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Dias lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Dias fails to land with a series of punches.

Dias shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Dias wants to stand but Karekin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dias trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Karekin has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Dias has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Dias content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Karekin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dias gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dias works on Karekin's body with a couple of short punches.
Still in the clinch, Dias scores with a nice short uppercut.

Karekin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dias is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Karekin has Dias pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dias manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Karekin has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Dias seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Karekin can turn it around.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dias prevents the takedown attempt.
Karekin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Dias tries to land knees in the clinch but Karekin avoids the damage to the body.

Dias ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dias no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Karekin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Karekin is working Dias over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Karekin throws a big elbow that misses.

Karekin wants to control from the top but Dias keeps moving.
Dias wants to stand and escape but Karekin is having none of it.

Dias misses with a low kick.
Dias shoots in for a takedown but Karekin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ricardo Dias is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dias will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

A decent looking cross lands there for Dias.
Dias connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Karekin takes one on the chin but seems OK.

and Karekin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Karekin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Karekin lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Dias avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Karekin postures up in Dias's guard and throws a big left but Dias blocks it.
Dias knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Karekin on the ground.

Karekin drops an elbow to the side of Dias's head.
Karekin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Dias!

Dias really wants to buck Karekin off and get back to his feet.
Dias is in a horrible position here. Karekin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Karekin lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dias hang on?
You get the feeling that Dias really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Karekin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Dias's face.

Dias is rocked!
Dias wants to try and get back to his feet.
Oh Dias is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Karekin landing strikes from the mount and Dias is in trouble!
Karekin loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Dias scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Karekin land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Karekin stands and salutes the crowd.
