Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nikolai Nation!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roger Cantor!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cantor tries for a takedown but Nation sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cantor ducks under a wild hook from Nation.
Nation scores with a body shot.
Nation works over Cantor's head and body with a nice combination.
Nation moves out of range of the strikes.
Nation slips a jab from Cantor.
Nation defending well as Cantor loads up on a big left hand.

Cantor closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nation did well to prevent Cantor getting side control.
Cantor is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Nation reverses the position - he's now on top in Cantor's guard.
Nation postures up.
Nation forces his way into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cantor actively working from the bottom here.
Cantor is looking for a sweep. Nation is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nation is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Nation prevents Cantor from improving his position.
It looks like Nation is going to stand back up.
Nation lands with a punch from half guard.
Cantor is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nation's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nation's back!
Will Cantor go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cantor somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Cantor throws strikes from the back but Nation rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Nation.
Cantor trying to control but Nation is working from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nation is on top in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cantor looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nation postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nation looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Nation stands and steps away. Cantor gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Cantor misses with a left hand
and Nation counters with a stiff right hand.
Nation rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
letting Cantor counter with a right hand.
Cantor moves forwards but Nation connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Nation connects with a looping right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cantor scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cantor is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Nation as he works his way to full guard.
Cantor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cantor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Nation seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Cantor is looking to work some ground and pound but Nation has wrist control.
Cantor wants to control from the top but Nation keeps moving.
Cantor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nation swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nation tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nikolai Nation will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nation fails to land with a series of punches.
Nation avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cantor tries to land a leg kick but Nation saw it coming and moves away.
Cantor connects with a right hand. Nation shakes it off.
A jab from Nation finds it's way through Cantor's defenses.
Nation works over Cantor's head and body with a nice combination.
Cantor shoots in but Nation avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nation connects with a nice looking jab.
A slow jab from Cantor misses its intended target.
Nation throws a right hand that misses
and Cantor counters with a straight right hand.
Cantor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nation changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Cantor throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cantor ducks under a wild hook from Nation.
Cantor throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nation avoids the head kick by Cantor.
Cantor looks for the body kick but Nation saw that one coming.
Nation takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Cantor throws a leg kick
letting Nation counter with a right hand.
Cantor staying out of range there.
Nation jabs at Cantor's body.
Nation's corner calls for a 1-2. Nation obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Nation cracks Cantor's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Cantor slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Nation can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nikolai Nation!
Nikolai Nation retains his lightweight title!
Our winner, Nikolai Nation, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
