Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cicero Santos!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos doesn't manage to clinch there - Santos circles away.
Santos looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Santos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Santos controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Santos might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Santos enables Santos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Santos manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Let's hope that Santos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Santos thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Santos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Santos manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Santos stays in close to Santos 's body and controls the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cicero Santos wasn't active enough on the ground.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cicero Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Still in half guard, Santos seems content to control.
Santos is in trouble now - Santos has advanced to mount!

Santos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Santos sprawls well initially but Santos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Santos drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Santos seems to have locked his on tight now - Santos screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Santos, as he picks up the win!
