PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armor King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolay Massilievich Ii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think King might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Armor King. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Massilievich Ii takes one to the chin there.

It looks like Nikolay Massilievich Ii has been cut.
Massilievich Ii misses with a hook to the body
and King counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
King moves to clinch but Massilievich Ii breaks away
and Massilievich Ii cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Massilievich Ii enables King to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Massilievich Ii manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

King gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A looping hook to the body misses from Massilievich Ii. King does a little dance to reset his feet.
King shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Massilievich Ii as he jumps to the side.
King goes for a double leg but Massilievich Ii avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Massilievich Ii continues to drive forward.

Massilievich Ii escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Massilievich Ii jabs King right on the nose. King blinks but takes it well.

King fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Massilievich Ii sprawls well initially but King persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
King is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
King thows a huge punch but Massilievich Ii dodges it nicely.
King is keen to just control but Massilievich Ii is a slippery customer.
King throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Armor King has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
King tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Massilievich Ii manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and King counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Massilievich Ii's guard now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

King tries to stand but Massilievich Ii is controlling from the bottom.

Massilievich Ii wants to get up but he can't break King's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Armor King.
King gets cracked there but stands up to it.

It looks like Armor King has been cut.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
King slips under a jab from Massilievich Ii.

King shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Massilievich Ii is trying to defend but King finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
King wants to get back to his feet.

King tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Massilievich Ii swivels and escapes.

King shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Massilievich Ii's guard.

Massilievich Ii throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck King on the side of the head.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Massilievich Ii takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from King.

Armor King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Massilievich Ii.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
King throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Massilievich Ii crashing down! Massilievich Ii tries to stagger back to his feet but King just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Massilievich Ii asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Armor King was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
