Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Buster Knott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon McCartney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knott comes to the cage accompanied by Kanye West vs. The xx - Touch The Sky (Carlos Serrano Mix) . McCartney has chosen Suck My D**K H** as his entrance music. Buster Knott has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buster Knott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon McCartney!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Knott.
Knott misses with a hook.
Knott darts in looking for a takedown but McCartney gets double underhooks and turns Knott into the cage.
McCartney is looking for a takedown.
McCartney tries for a takedown but Knott manages to get underhooks.
Knott tries for a takedown. No joy.

Knott gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knott throwing strikes but missing.
McCartney has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
McCartney looking to hit a scissor sweep but Knott is one step ahead there.
Knott seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Buster Knott.
Knott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McCartney motions for Knott to come forward. McCartney throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Brandon McCartney is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McCartney fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Knott.

McCartney throws a big shot that misses.
Knott scores with a jab to the body.
Knott looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Buster Knott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McCartney does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
McCartney wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
McCartney misses with a low kick.
Knott takes a swing at McCartney's ribcage but misses.
Knott looks to clinch
and McCartney counters with a nice body shot.

Knott shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

McCartney trying to hold on to Knott's head to control him but Knott postures up.
McCartney is not content to let Knott control the position.

Knott is working for a kimura but McCartney is defending it quite comfortably.
Knott throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Knott is keen to just control but McCartney is a slippery customer.

Knott is looking for a kimura but McCartney is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Knott to get the leverage.
McCartney is staying active underneath Knott, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Knott passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for McCartney!
Knott wants to control the pace but McCartney is squirming around nicely.
Knott avoids the attempt from McCartney to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Knott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Knott paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

McCartney is looking to slow Knott down with leg kicks.
Knott is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Knott goes for a double leg but McCartney avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McCartney continues to drive forward.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Knott has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McCartney is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Knott is trying to break the clinch but McCartney has him pressed against the cage.
I was talking to Knott's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Knott is fighting off a takedown attempt but McCartney is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Knott to the mat. Knott regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
McCartney won't allow Knott to sweep him here.
McCartney wants to pass the guard but Knott is keeping the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Knott is on top in guard.
Knott will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Knott shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. McCartney is trying to defend but Knott finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

McCartney is taking a breather. Knott says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That was a close second round but I would say that Buster Knott will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

A bone on bone clash there as McCartney blocks the leg kick.
Knott will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Knott dives in and grabs McCartney's left leg, looking for a takedown. McCartney pushes down on Knott's head and hops out.

Knott closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McCartney to the mat! McCartney manages to get full guard.
McCartney throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McCartney can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Knott, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
