Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Amado Hood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Verde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amado Hood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Verde!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Verde fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hood sprawls well initially but Verde persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Verde with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hood really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hood is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Verde's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Verde's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Verde controlling Hood 's hands.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hood is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Verde looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Verde is in bad spot here.
Verde tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Verde sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Hood prevents Verde from improving his position.

Hood is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Verde has managed to free his arm - good work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Verde missing with punches from the bottom.
Verde tries to roll over but Hood keeps him under control.
Hood will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Verde is trying to control but can't.

Hood seems to be working for a kimura but Verde defends the submission attempt.

Verde is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hood pulls his head out easily.
Verde is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Verde is pressing down on Hood's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Verde is trying to control the position but Hood postures up.

Hood won't allow Verde to get back to his feet.
Verde is trying to keep Hood in close.
Hood is in close to Verde's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hood loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Verde is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hood stands up over Verde, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Verde is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hood is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Verde fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hood avoids it really well and circles away.
Verde swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Hood scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Verde looks like he's trying to stand up.
Verde wants to control but Hood is keeping busy.

Hood looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hood is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Verde is just riding it out for now. Hood eventually gives up the hold.

Verde actively working from the bottom here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Verde gets full guard.
Verde doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Hood is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Hood is fighting to break Verde's control of his arms but Verde is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Verde is trying to control the position but Hood postures up.
Verde wants to stand but Hood is controlling the position.
Verde striking off his back but it's not causing Hood any problems.

Verde not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Verde wants to stand up but Hood is controlling him.

Verde looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hood passes into half guard.

Hood is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hood thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Verde wants to get back to full guard but Hood has mounted him!
Verde's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Verde tries to reverse the position but Hood maintains control.

Hood working for a guillotine from mount but Verde is in no mood to give up.
Verde tries to hold on but Hood postures up.

Hood is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Verde has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Verde!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Carlos Verde will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Hood's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Verde goes for a double leg but Hood avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hood continues to drive forward.

Hood jumps guard.
Verde wants to stand but Hood is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hood wants to stand but Verde is controlling the position.
Verde advances to half guard.

Verde stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hood to get to his feet.
Verde fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Verde darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Verde takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hood is trying to stand up here but Verde is controlling him well.
Verde lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Verde prevents Hood from standing back up.
Well, if Verde is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hood is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Verde pulls his head out easily.

Verde decides to stand and escape the position.
Verde shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hood defends it nicely.
Amado Hood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Verde.

Verde gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hood tries to escape but Verde is in control.
Carlos Verde has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hood throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Hood feints and as Verde raises his hands in defense, Hood changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hood is fighting to break Verde's control of his arms but Verde is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Hood throwing strikes but missing.
Verde avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Verde looking for a guillotine here but Hood defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Verde is working an open guard so Hood takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Verde is defended easily by Hood.
Verde fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Amado Hood has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Carlos Verde is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Verde shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hood manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Carlos Verde comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Verde winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
