The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendrix looks to throw the jab but Simmons is out of range.
Hendrix tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Simmons showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hendrix.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Hendrix throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Simmons counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simmons wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Hendrix wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Simmons looks to score with a jab to the body but Hendrix is just out of range.

Simmons tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hendrix throws a sloppy head kick
and Simmons counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Hendrix drives through with a takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hendrix gets to his feet - Simmons follows without any prompting.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hendrix is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Simmons is just riding it out for now. Hendrix eventually gives up the hold.
