Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jewell Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jewell Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick Jones!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Marquez trying to control the position but instead, Jones has worked for underhooks and has pushed Marquez into the cage.

Marquez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Marquez, up you get!
Marquez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Marquez doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Marquez fights it but they end up in guard.
Marquez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jones is stalling in the full guard.
Marquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marquez wants to get back to his feet but Jones passes into half guard.

Jones perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jones working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Jones looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Jones stops Marquez from getting back to his feet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Rick Jones has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Jones takes the fight into the clinch.

Marquez is trying to stand.
Marquez is breathing heavily.
Jones not doing much here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rick Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Jones stands up and waves to Marquez to follow him.

Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Jones content to control rather than advance.
Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones drops an elbow to the side of Marquez's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Marquez defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Jones dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Jones looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Marquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jones stands and steps away. Marquez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marquez to the mat! Marquez manages to get full guard.
Marquez is looking to stand back up but Jones counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Marquez.
Jones keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but Marquez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Marquez's temple.
Well, if Jones is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Marquez actively working from the bottom here.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Jones prevents Marquez from standing back up.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rick Jones was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones is controlling the pace.

Marquez is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones stalling.

Jones is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Marquez wants to get back to his feet.
Marquez pushes Jones off but Jones dives into side control.
Marquez tries to escape but Jones is in control.

Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Marquez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Marquez's shoulder. That is not cool.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rick Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jones scores with a takedown into Marquez's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Marquez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Jones is trying to trip Marquez. He has hold of a leg but Marquez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jones persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Marquez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Marquez has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle.
Jones lands a couple of elbows.
Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Jones stops Marquez from standing up.
Rick Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jones stands up from Marquez's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Jones slips nicely into half guard.
Oh Marquez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jones decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Jones is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Marquez is in big trouble! Jones is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Marquez. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Rick Jones!
