Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jasper Slater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Holt will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jasper Slater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Holt!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Holt is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Slater's half guard.
Slater is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Slater keeping hold of Holt's head, controlling as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holt is looking to take a break and control but Slater is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Slater has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Holt is trying to keep an underhook but Slater manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Holt throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Slater escapes and throws Holt's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Slater sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Holt is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Holt trying to control but Slater flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Slater could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Slater somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Holt trying to control the action but Slater just sinks the hooks in.
Slater is trying to stick to Holt's back but Holt is turning into Slater. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Slater's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Holt.

Slater wants to sweep here but Holt controlling him for the moment.

That was a close round but I would say that Jasper Slater will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Holt tries to keep at a distance but Slater has taken the fight into the clinch.

Holt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Slater doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Slater manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Slater wants to get up but he can't break Holt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Holt closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Slater is looking for a sweep. Holt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Holt works his foot free and advances to mount.
Holt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Holt misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Holt with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slater wants to control but Holt is having none of it.

David Holt showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Holt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Holt slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Slater.
Slater is staying active underneath Holt, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Holt seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Slater has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Holt is working away from the top position though.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. David Holt wasn't active enough on the ground.

Holt has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Slater uses from the top position.

Slater tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Holt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Holt shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Slater's guard.

Slater throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Holt is fighting to break Slater's control of his arms but Slater is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Holt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slater is really struggling to control Holt but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Holt shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Slater is trying to defend but Holt finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Holt is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Slater doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Holt.

David Holt comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Holt has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
