PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Greg Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cullen Rackham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Greg Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cullen Rackham!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rackham is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kerr.
Rackham misses with a hook to the body
and Kerr counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rackham throws a leg kick that is checked
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Rackham looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rackham with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Kerr is trying to control but can't.

Rackham decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Rackham is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kerr's half guard.

Rackham is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kerr has managed to free his arm - good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Kerr is defending against the submission attempts here by Rackham.

Rackham seems to be working for a kimura but Kerr defends the submission attempt.
Rackham wants to pass to mount but Kerr is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kerr is staying active underneath Rackham, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rackham keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Rackham wants to stand but Kerr has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Kerr is trying to control but can't.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kerr is looking to improve his position.
Kerr wants to control the action here but instead Rackham manages to pass to full mount!
Rackham cracks Kerr with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rackham tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Kerr is squirming around, avoiding Rackham's attempts to control the action.
Kerr tries to hold on but Rackham postures up.
Rackham controlling from the full mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Cullen Rackham.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rackham wants to stand but Kerr is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rackham wants to pass the guard but Kerr is keeping the position.
Rackham forces his way into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rackham is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kerr is just riding it out for now. Rackham eventually gives up the hold.
Well, if Rackham is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rackham shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rackham showed some decent athleticism there.
Well, if Rackham is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rackham is trying to control. Kerr wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rackham controlling the action here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rackham tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kerr knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Cullen Rackham has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rackham looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cullen Rackham was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rackham changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kerr looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rackham decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rackham slaps away a takedown attempt from Kerr, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rackham tries to close the distance and clinch but Kerr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Rackham counters with a single leg into guard. Kerr didn't expect that.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rackham wants to control from the top but Kerr keeps moving.

Rackham lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Rackham stays in close to Kerr's body and controls the position.
Rackham passes Kerr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kerr is trying to maintain the position but Rackham is very close to passing his half guard.
Kerr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rackham on the ground.
Rackham is taking a breather. Kerr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Rackham has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rackham wants to get back to his feet.
Kerr blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rackham.
Rackham seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Rackham lands with a punch from half guard.
Kerr wants to improve his position but Rackham is controlling well.
Rackham scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Rackham controlling the action here.
Kerr wants to get back to full guard but Rackham has passed into side control.
Rackham in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Rackham decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kerr to his feet.

Kerr gets caught napping as Rackham dives in and scores a takedown. Kerr manages to retain guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rackham throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kerr works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rackham controls from within his opponent's guard.

Rackham decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cullen Rackham showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kerr has a closed guard, preventing Rackham from standing up.

Rackham cracks Kerr with a solid left hand.
Rackham slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Kerr has control of Rackham's left arm, preventing Rackham from doing any damage.

Kerr wants to control but Rackham passes easily into half guard.
Rackham lands strikes from half guard.


Kerr is rocked!

Rackham in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kerr tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Rackham!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Cullen Rackham!
