Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Staunton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brandon Marshall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Staunton!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshall misses with an uppercut. Staunton saw that one coming.
Staunton dives in and grabs Marshall's left leg, looking for a takedown. Marshall pushes down on Staunton's head and hops out.

Staunton looking to score a takedown here. Marshall is defending well but Staunton drives through and ends up in Marshall's guard.

Marshall is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Staunton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Staunton stays in close to Marshall's body and controls the position.
Marshall is trying to control the position but Staunton postures up.
Staunton throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Marshall works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Staunton stands and throws Marshall's legs to the side, diving into side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Staunton is looking to take a break and control but Marshall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Marshall tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Staunton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marshall manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Staunton wants to get back to full guard.
Staunton is trying to maintain the position but Marshall is very close to passing his half guard.
Staunton on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Staunton is trying to stand.
Marshall prevents Staunton from improving his position.
Staunton regains full guard. Nicely done.
Marshall won't allow Staunton to sweep him here.
Staunton has his hands on Marshall's head, controlling the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Staunton has control of Marshall's left arm, preventing Marshall from doing any damage.
Let's hope that Staunton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marshall accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Steve Staunton has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Marshall throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marshall fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Marshall swings for the body but Staunton moves out of range.

Staunton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Marshall to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Marshall is trying desperately to improve position.
Staunton pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Staunton lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Marshall is in all sorts of trouble here.
Staunton breaks from Marshall's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Staunton lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

It looks like Brandon Marshall has been cut.
Staunton with shots to the head and body - Marshall looks very uncomfortable down there.


Marshall is rocked!

Oh Marshall is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Staunton postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Marshall badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Staunton around the waist but Staunton pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Staunton is the winner by TKO! Staunton jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Staunton!
A very excited looking Steve Staunton made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
