Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cortez Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitalys Gurrmanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cortez Brennan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vitalys Gurrmanov!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Francis DeMontford and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brennan fails with a takedown attempt.
Gurrmanov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brennan.
Brennan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gurrmanov pushes Brennan away with a front kick.

Brennan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gurrmanov is pulling down on Brennan's head. It's preventing any offense from Brennan, at least for the moment.
Gurrmanov wants to stand and escape but Brennan is having none of it.
Brennan sitting in guard here, content to control.
Gurrmanov keeping moving, preventing Brennan from controlling successfully.

Gurrmanov looking for a sweep. Not yet Gurrmanov, not yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cortez Brennan.
Gurrmanov misses with a body kick.
Vitalys Gurrmanov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gurrmanov drives through with a takedown into guard.

Brennan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gurrmanov is looking to work some ground and pound but Brennan has wrist control.
Gurrmanov wants to get up but he can't break Brennan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Brennan seems keen to control Gurrmanov's posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gurrmanov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gurrmanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Brennan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Gurrmanov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Vitalys Gurrmanov has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Gurrmanov tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Brennan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cortez Brennan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gurrmanov gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Brennan is trying to maintain a safe position but Gurrmanov gets an underhook and turns Brennan into the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Gurrmanov softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Gurrmanov content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Gurrmanov scores a nice knee to the body.
A bit of stalling here from Brennan.
Gurrmanov lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!


It looks like Cortez Brennan has been cut.
A short body shot lands from Gurrmanov as the two fighters clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Gurrmanov just misses with a elbow thrown towards Brennan's brow.

Gurrmanov jumps guard.
Brennan trying to control the position from guard on top but Gurrmanov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brennan is looking to stand up but Gurrmanov won't let him.

Gurrmanov manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Gurrmanov fails to land with a series of punches.
Brennan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gurrmanov dives in and scores a takedown into Brennan's guard.
Gurrmanov looks winded!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gurrmanov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Brennan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gurrmanov got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brennan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gurrmanov has managed to get both his arms back between Brennan's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Gurrmanov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brennan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Brennan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gurrmanov looking to sit in guard and control but Brennan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gurrmanov wants to stand but Brennan is controlling the position.
Gurrmanov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Gurrmanov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gurrmanov doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Gurrmanov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brennan controls the pace.
Gurrmanov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brennan is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Brennan tries for a takedown but Gurrmanov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Gurrmanov stuffs the takedown attempt from Brennan. Brennan gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cortez Brennan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gurrmanov feints and as Brennan raises his hands in defense, Gurrmanov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gurrmanov stands up from Brennan's guard - Gurrmanov perhaps looking for a knockout.
Brennan is looking to clinch.
Cortez Brennan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Brennan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gurrmanov avoids it really well and circles away.

Gurrmanov gets a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gurrmanov pushes Brennan back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Gurrmanov manages to break the clinch.
Brennan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gurrmanov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gurrmanov throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Brennan to regain full guard.

Gurrmanov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Brennan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brennan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gurrmanov is fending him off so far but Brennan persists. Nope, Gurrmanov circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gurrmanov moves into the clinch.
Gurrmanov is pushing Brennan up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Gurrmanov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gurrmanov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brennan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gurrmanov has closed the distance and engaged Brennan in a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gurrmanov decides to pull guard.
Gurrmanov is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gurrmanov is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitalys Gurrmanov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Cortez Brennan's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Brennan tries to sprawl but Gurrmanov drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gurrmanov is pressing down on Brennan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brennan is holding on for now.
Brennan regains full guard. Nicely done.

Gurrmanov has gone for a leg lock! Brennan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gurrmanov's guard.
Gurrmanov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Brennan trying to control the position from guard on top but Gurrmanov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Brennan stands up over Gurrmanov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Brennan trying to control but Gurrmanov is working from the bottom.
Gurrmanov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gurrmanov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gurrmanov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gurrmanov prevents Brennan from improving his position.
Gurrmanov is pressing down on Brennan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brennan is holding on for now.

Gurrmanov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brennan's head.
Brennan is looking to improve his position.

Gurrmanov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Brennan trying to hold on to Gurrmanov's head to control him but Gurrmanov postures up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gurrmanov wants to stand but Brennan has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Brennan regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Gurrmanov.

Gurrmanov stands and steps away. Brennan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Brennan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gurrmanov on his heels. He'll look to pass Gurrmanov's guard now, I'm sure.

Gurrmanov is adopting a defensive guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gurrmanov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gurrmanov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gurrmanov is looking to clinch but Brennan is avoiding it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gurrmanov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gurrmanov showed some decent athleticism there.
Cortez Brennan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vitalys Gurrmanov is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gurrmanov moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Brennan.

And that's the end of the fight!
Vitalys Gurrmanov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gurrmanov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
