Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jefferey Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corwin Anstey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jefferey Gump!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gump tries to clinch up
and Anstey cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Anstey circles away from the clinch attempt
and Anstey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Anstey counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gump tries to clinch but Anstey moves out of range.
Gump wants to clinch but Anstey slips to the side
and Anstey counters with a stiff right hand.

Anstey stalks Gump and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gump's face. Gump staggers backwards, shaken.

and Anstey counters with a nice body shot.
Anstey circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gump fails with the takedown.
Gump tries to clinch up
and Anstey counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gump wants to clinch but Anstey slips to the side
and Anstey counters with a nice body shot.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Anstey enables Gump to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Anstey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Anstey wants to stand and escape but Gump is having none of it.
Gump postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Anstey has control of Gump's left arm, preventing Gump from doing any damage.
Gump trying to control the position from guard on top but Anstey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anstey manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gump manages to get himself to full guard.

Gump is trying to control the position but Anstey postures up.
Anstey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gump shoots in looking for a takedown. Anstey tries to sprawl out of it but Gump keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anstey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Anstey misses the jab.

Gump fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Corwin Anstey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jefferey Gump.
Gump on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Anstey shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gump eats them both and turns towards Anstey to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jefferey Gump seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gump moves in looking to clinch but Anstey pushes him off.
Anstey steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gump.
Anstey throws a lazy right hand but Gump sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A left lands for Gump.
Gump scores with a jab to the jaw.

and Anstey counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Anstey misses with a left hand
and Gump connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Anstey moves out of range as Gump strikes.
Gump tries to bum rush Anstey with a series of wild strikes but Anstey uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gump looks to land a right hand but Anstey moved out of range.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gump lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Anstey has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Anstey and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Anstey here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

enabling Anstey to counter with a crisp jab.

Anstey lands a nice hook to Gump's body. Gump takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

and Anstey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Anstey.

Anstey throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gump.
Jefferey Gump has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Gump's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Anstey connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gump scrambles back to his feet.

and Anstey counters with a three punch combo that has Gump backing up. Gump nods at Anstey to acknowledge the strikes.
Corwin Anstey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anstey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
