PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rcrs Sarabjit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Split Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rcrs Sarabjit had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rcrs Sarabjit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Split Rush!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rush shoots in and drives through. Sarabjit sprawls well.
Rush shoots in looking for a takedown. Sarabjit tries to sprawl out of it but Rush keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sarabjit manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rush dives in for a single leg takedown but Sarabjit sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Rcrs Sarabjit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Split Rush.

Rush gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Sarabjit had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rush defends it easily.
Rush is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sarabjit preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rush postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rush with a flurry of punches that miss.
Rush trying to control the position from guard on top but Sarabjit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rush stands and throws Sarabjit's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rush wants to control but Sarabjit is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sarabjit tries to improve position but can't.
Rush in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Rush cracks Sarabjit with a big elbow.
Sarabjit takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Rush lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rush scoring with punches from side control.
Sarabjit really is a fat lump.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rush working the head with strikes.

Sarabjit is not content to let Rush control the position.
Rush lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Sarabjit down.
Rush landing strikes.
Sarabjit might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rush cracks Sarabjit with a big right hand but Sarabjit just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Rush looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Sarabjit is avoiding damage well.

Rush looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rush is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sarabjit will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Sarabjit takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Sarabjit on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sarabjit is letting Rush control him for a moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rush lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Split Rush dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rush is defended easily by Sarabjit.
Sarabjit fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rush tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sarabjit swivels and escapes.
Rush misses the jab.
Rush shoots in but no luck this time.
Rcrs Sarabjit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Split Rush.
Sarabjit shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rush as he avoids it easily.
Rush takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Sarabjit shoots in but Rush avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sarabjit wants to clinch.

Rush gets the takedown into side control.

Rush controlling the position from side mount.
Rush working the ground and pound.
Rush is looking to take a break and control but Sarabjit is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sarabjit dodges the ground and pound from Rush.
Rush has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rush trying to control the action but Sarabjit is working from the bottom.
Sarabjit gets back to half guard.

Rush slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Split Rush was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rush scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Rush with the ground and pound but Sarabjit uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Rush is looking to work some ground and pound but Sarabjit has wrist control.
Rush makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Rush has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rush working some strikes from top position.
Rush is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rush working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rush with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sarabjit has momentary wrist control but Rush slips an elbow through the middle.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sarabjit throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rush escapes and throws Sarabjit's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Sarabjit on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Split Rush showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Sarabjit's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


No luck for Rush with that takedown attempt.
Sarabjit tries to clinch but Rush moves away

and Rush counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rush trying to control but Sarabjit is working from the bottom.
Rush in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rush working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Rush showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rush lands a couple of elbows.
Rush trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Rush passes Sarabjit's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rush lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Rush working over Sarabjit with some ground and pound. Sarabjit looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Rush content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Sarabjit has hold of Rush's hands but Rush slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Nice strikes from Rush there.
Rush is nestled in close to Sarabjit, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rush passes to full mount!
Rush lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Rush lands with some strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sarabjit taking shots to the head.
The referee warns Sarabjit that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


It looks like Rcrs Sarabjit has been cut.
BOOM! Rush connects with a massive shot to the dome!


Sarabjit is rocked!
Sarabjit is desperately trying to improve his position but Rush has a good base and remains in mount.
Sarabjit is bucking up trying to escape but Rush cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Oh Sarabjit is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rush tries to control but Sarabjit wriggling away.
Rcrs Sarabjit has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Split Rush is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Sarabjit seems to have got his legs back now.
Rush lands a heavy elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Split Rush comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rush winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
