PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bradley Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bradley Rice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rocky Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rice closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Johnson's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rice tries to stand but Johnson is controlling from the bottom.
Johnson is trying to control the position but Rice postures up.
Johnson throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Johnson has his foot on Rice's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rice works his way back into a safe position though.
Johnson is pulling down on Rice's head to control his posture.
Johnson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rice will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Rice decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Johnson, up you get!
Johnson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rice.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rice slips under a jab.
Johnson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rice in his tracks.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rice utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Johnson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Johnson is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Johnson blocks the strikes from Rice.
Rice is positioning himself well to prevent Johnson advancing to mount.
Rice wants to get back to full guard.
Rice flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Johnson not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Johnson is going to stand back up.
Rice moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rice is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rice lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Rice tries to strike from the bottom.
Rice keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rice controlling Johnson's posture.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rice has a closed guard, preventing Johnson from standing up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rice wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.
Rice throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Rice pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.
Rice knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rice tries a head kick but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rice throws a sloppy head kick and Johnson moves out of range easily.

Johnson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Johnson is keen to just control but Rice is a slippery customer.
Rice wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but Rice is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage.
Johnson trying to control the pace.
Johnson blocks the strikes from Rice.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rice won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rocky Johnson dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Rice rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rice has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Rice escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rice throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Rice swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rice shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Johnson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Johnson showed some decent athleticism there.
Rice slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rice is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.
Johnson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rice wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Johnson is now in half guard.
Rice flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Johnson trying to control the action but Rice is working from the bottom.
Johnson prevents Rice from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ground and pound from Johnson.
Johnson is trying to control. Rice wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rice punching from the bottom.
Rice regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Johnson.
Johnson stops Rice from standing up.
Johnson stands and throws Rice's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rice can't do much from the bottom here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Rice is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Rice trying to control but Johnson flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Johnson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rice has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

I really don't envy Rice right now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Johnson is working for a rear naked choke. Rice is not defending it well and Johnson has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Rice refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Rice's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rocky Johnson!
