PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dylan Mills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dylan Mills told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Stevens !
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dylan Mills!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mills swivels and escapes.

Mills darts in and clinches Stevens up against the cage.
Stevens tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mills avoids it.
Mills has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stevens avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mills tries for a takedown but Stevens manages to get underhooks.
Stevens jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mills walks away with a smile on his face. Stevens gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Stevens has managed to clinch.
Mills connects with a nasty looking knee right to Stevens 's face.
Mills misses with a punch on the inside.
Mills lands a left hand that snaps the head of Stevens backwards.
Mills tries a knee to the head but Stevens blocks it.
Mills throws a head punch that misses.

Stevens pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mills passes Stevens 's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mills is controlling the pace.
Mills trying to pass the guard but Stevens defending well.

Stevens is trying to stand back up but Mills is controlling him

Mills slows the pace down in half guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dylan Mills hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Mills goes for a double leg but Stevens avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stevens continues to drive forward.
Paul Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dylan Mills.

Stevens is trying to pull guard but Mills has him pressed against the cage.
Mills keeps control of Stevens as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Mills lands a nice looking kick to the body. Stevens takes a step back to recover.

Mills rushes Stevens and presses him up against the cage.
Mills is leaning against Stevens and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Stevens goes for a takedown attempt but Mills pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mills tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stevens showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mills.
Mills tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stevens defends well and Mills ends up having to push Stevens into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Stevens is trying to pull guard but Mills turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mills throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Stevens s head.

Mills has hold of one of Stevens 's legs. Stevens is fighting the takedown attempt but Mills gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mills controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mills stops Stevens from standing up.
Mills is looking to advance position but Stevens has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mills wants to control but Stevens is having none of it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mills keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mills avoids a series of strikes thrown by Stevens .
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mills blocks an elbow strike from Stevens .

Mills drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mills jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mills not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Mills stands and throws Stevens 's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stevens is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mills asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Mills wants to control but Stevens is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stevens is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Mills thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mills prevents Stevens from escaping the position.
Mills tries to advance to mount but Stevens denies him.
