The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Toolsy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ramirez is not content to let Toolsy control the position.
You can see the frustration on Ramirez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ramirez is looking to regain half guard here but Toolsy keeps moving and retains side control.

Toolsy uses his free foot to push down on Ramirez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ramirez.

Toolsy throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Ramirez because Toolsy loaded up on that one.
Ramirez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Toolsy on the ground.
Ramirez tries to lock up and control but Toolsy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Toolsy's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Toolsy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Ramirez wants to stand up but Toolsy is controlling the position.

Toolsy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Toolsy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ramirez sprawls well initially but Toolsy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
