PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Kahn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petr Vondrachek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyson Kahn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Petr Vondrachek!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kahn throws out a leg kick but Vondrachek moves out of range and Kahn only half commits.
A head kick misses from Kahn.
Vondrachek connects with a leg kick. Kahn looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Vondrachek lands a head kick that stumbles Kahn and the fighters go to the mat.


It looks like Tyson Kahn has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vondrachek advances position into side control!
Kahn is looking for a sweep.

Vondrachek postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Kahn is not content to let Vondrachek control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee asks Vondrachek politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vondrachek prefers to stall for the moment though.
Vondrachek lands a few punches from side control.
Kahn tries to bench press Vondrachek off him but Vondrachek keeps the position.
Vondrachek throws an elbow but Kahn slips to the side and avoids it well.

Vondrachek creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vondrachek is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kahn has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kahn wants to control but Vondrachek postures up.
Vondrachek lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kahn down.
Vondrachek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kahn keeps working.
Vondrachek creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kahn sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Petr Vondrachek dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kahn avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Kahn walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kahn connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Kahn clobbers Vondrachek with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Vondrachek takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Vondrachek is looking to chop away at Kahn's legs.
Vondrachek pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Vondrachek lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kahn has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kahn and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Vondrachek throws out a leg kick but Kahn moves out of range and Vondrachek only half commits.
Vondrachek wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Tyson Kahn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kahn walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Nice uppercut lands for Kahn. That snapped Vondrachek's head back.
Kahn works the jab nicely.

Petr Vondrachek seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kahn lands a glancing blow to the side of Vondrachek's head.
It looks like Kahn has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Kahn is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Vondrachek comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Kahn manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vondrachek on his heels. He'll look to pass Vondrachek's guard now, I'm sure.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Petr Vondrachek hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Well Vondrachek has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
