The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhodes wants to clinch but Vinson slips to the side
and Vinson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Vinson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rhodes darts in trying to clinch
and Vinson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rhodes won't be happy with that.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
An elbow from Vinson crashes against the mat.
Rhodes tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Vinson cracks Rhodes with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Rhodes is trying to control Vinson's posture but Vinson avoids it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rhodes is trying to escape the position but Vinson is controlling the position.

Vinson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Rhodes can't do much from the bottom here.

Vinson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Vinson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rhodes just stands there and leans against the cage.
Vinson takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like Wilbert Vinson has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rhodes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rhodes closes the distance looking to clinch
and Vinson counters with a left and a right that stings Rhodes.

A head kick from Rhodes lands but Vinson takes it in his stride.
Vinson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Rhodes back to the cage. Vinson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

so Rhodes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rhodes wants to control from the top but Vinson keeps moving.
Rhodes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Vinson has momentary wrist control but Rhodes slips an elbow through the middle.
Vinson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Rhodes doesn't defend quickly enough and Vinson has managed to lock this one up! Can Rhodes escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Vinson on a fantastic submission victory.
