PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tuneock Mast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nixy Souch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nixy Souch!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mast misses with a takedown attempt - Souch sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mast stuffs the takedown.
Souch misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Souch is defended easily by Mast.
Tuneock Mast has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nixy Souch.
A slapping leg kick lands for Mast.

Mast moves into the clinch successfully.
Mast has Souch pressed against the cage, preventing Souch from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mast lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Souch or not.
Souch takes a knee to the side of the body.
Souch tries to score a body lock takedown but Mast shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Mast's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mast darts in looking for a takedown but Souch gets double underhooks and turns Mast into the cage.
Mast is working for takedown but Souch is calmly controlling the position for now.

Mast definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Mast pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Souch shoots in for a takedown but Mast shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Souch or perhaps it was just good defense by Mast, which made it look bad.

Souch tries for a takedown but Mast sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Souch shoots in and drives through. Mast sprawls well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Souch tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mast swivels and escapes.
Souch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mast pinned against the cage. Mast gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Mast plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Souch goes for a double leg but Mast avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mast continues to drive forward.

Souch takes a kick to the side of the head.
Mast fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Souch shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mast defends it nicely.

Souch shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Souch showed some decent athleticism there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Souch is trying to control the action in half guard but Mast is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, Souch seems content to control.
Souch is looking to take a break and control but Mast is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Souch is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mast is just riding it out for now. Souch eventually gives up the hold.
Mast knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Souch on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Tuneock Mast will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Mast throws a nice inside leg kick.

Souch shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mast is trying to defend but Souch finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Souch seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mast does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Souch has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Souch has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mast has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
