PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jonnie Boardwalk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Dunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunn has chosen Diary of a Madman as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonnie Boardwalk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Dunn!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boardwalk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dunn struggling a bit here.
Dunn sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Boardwalk is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Dunn wants to get back to full guard.
Boardwalk thows a huge punch but Dunn dodges it nicely.
Boardwalk trying to control from half guard but Dunn is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dunn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Dunn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Boardwalk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Boardwalk manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Boardwalk is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dunn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dunn working over Boardwalk with some ground and pound. Boardwalk looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Boardwalk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Boardwalk manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dunn manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dunn tries to get to full guard but Boardwalk has control of the leg.

Dunn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Dunn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dunn.
Dunn has Boardwalk pulled in close to control his posture.
Dunn wants to get back to his feet but Boardwalk is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Dunn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Boardwalk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dunn wants to sweep but no luck.

Boardwalk postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Dunn has his foot on Boardwalk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Boardwalk works his way back into a safe position though.
Dunn is trying to keep Boardwalk in close.
Dunn wants to hit a switch here but Boardwalk passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Dunn there!
Boardwalk postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Dunn looks a forlorn figure.
Boardwalk is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dunn can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Dunn is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boardwalk looking to control and managing it successfully.
Dunn can't escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dunn regains half guard.
Dunn avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Boardwalk.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mark Dunn will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Dunn finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Boardwalk fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Dunn on the side of the head.
Dunn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mark Dunn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Boardwalk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dunn manages to avoid it.
The crowd cheers as Boardwalk lands an impressive looking overhand right. Dunn doesn't seem phased though.
Dunn is still on wobbly legs! Can Boardwalk finish him?
Dunn lands a jab to the nose.
Dunn seems to have recovered his senses.
That kick from Dunn tenderised Boardwalk's leg. Boardwalk is trying to keep his angry face on.

Boardwalk doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

A head punch on the inside from Dunn fails to land.
Boardwalk avoids a wild elbow strike from Dunn.
Dunn working hard to break the clinch.
Boardwalk tries to break free but Dunn pushes him back against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Dunn just misses with a elbow thrown towards Boardwalk's brow.

Dunn manages to break the clinch.
Dunn connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Boardwalk lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Dunn lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
We've been told by Boardwalk's head coaches at HARRY'S that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Dunn takes one to the chin there.
Dunn works over Boardwalk's head and body with a nice combination.


Boardwalk is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dunn has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Boardwalk finds it's way round the side to connect with Dunn's head.
Oh Boardwalk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Dunn fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Boardwalk.
Boardwalk needs to keep his hands up - Dunn had a free shot at his head there.
Dunn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No luck for Boardwalk with that takedown attempt.
Dunn misses with a double jab.
Boardwalk seems to have got his legs back now.
Boardwalk connects with a solid leg kick.

Boardwalk throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dunn lands a nice leg kick that just misses Boardwalk's sensitive parts.

Boardwalk fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dunn looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Dunn fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dunn fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Boardwalk on the side of the head.
Dunn looks to land a left hand but Boardwalk moved out of range nicely.
Mark Dunn seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Dunn with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Boardwalk to score with a decent uppercut.
Boardwalk looks to land a combination. Dunn sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Dunn throws a right and a left that both miss.
Boardwalk connects with a single shot there.
Boardwalk scores with a jab. Dunn acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Dunn's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Dunn duly obliges.

Dunn throws a body shot but no joy.

Boardwalk jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Boardwalk connects with a body shot that sends Dunn's belly button to the back.
Nice defenses there by Dunn.
Boardwalk scores with a hook to the body. Dunn takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Boardwalk buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Dunn dives in for a single leg takedown but Boardwalk sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Boardwalk tries to work over Dunn's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Dunn can't find room to land a body shot as Boardwalk controls the action.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Boardwalk throws a punch but it's blocked by Dunn.
Dunn putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Boardwalk in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

A close second round but Mark Dunn will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Boardwalk throws a right hand that Dunn ducks under and follows up with a left that Dunn also avoids with ease.
Dunn is looking to clinch but Boardwalk is avoiding it.

Dunn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Boardwalk was covering up waiting for the punch and Dunn finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mark Dunn has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dunn throws a big elbow that misses.
Boardwalk has his hands on Dunn's head, controlling the position.

Dunn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Mark Dunn is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Dunn is keen to just control but Boardwalk is a slippery customer.
Dunn takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Dunn is looking to take a break and control but Boardwalk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Dunn is taking a breather. Boardwalk says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mark Dunn wasn't active enough on the ground.
Dunn misses with a two punch combination.

Boardwalk slips under a jab.
Boardwalk misses with a straight right.
Dunn slips under a jab.

Dunn drops his hands momentarily and Boardwalk takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Boardwalk takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Dunn moves out of range of the strikes.
Boardwalk throws an overhand right that lands on Dunn's shoulder, as Dunn tries to avoid the shot.

Jonnie Boardwalk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dunn bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Boardwalk's head backwards.

Boardwalk throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Dunn counters with a stiff right hand.
Boardwalk lands a jab to Dunn's midsection.
Boardwalk misses with a shot to the body
and Dunn counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Boardwalk lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Boardwalk pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Dunn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Boardwalk moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Dunn counters with a nice body kick.
Dunn fails with a takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boardwalk throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mark Dunn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Dunn winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
