Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alfred Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Rickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alfred Alexander has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rickson forces Alexander back against the cage and clinches.

Rickson pulls guard effortlessly.
Rickson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Rickson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alexander sees it coming and defends easily.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rickson in particular looking to stall.

Rickson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rickson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rickson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Alexander gets caught napping as Rickson dives in and scores a takedown. Alexander manages to retain guard.

Alexander is working an open guard so Rickson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rickson looks to land a combination but Alexander avoids it well.

Alexander ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rickson moves away.

Rickson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alexander knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alexander looks to move to half guard but instead Rickson has passed into mount! Damn!

It looks like Rickson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Rickson wants to finish this one by submission but Alexander is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rickson.
Alexander tries to lock up and control but Rickson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alexander is wriggling around trying to escape.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
