Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnathan Lowery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnathan Lowery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lowery gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Emelianenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lowery's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Lowery looking to hit a scissor sweep but Emelianenko is one step ahead there.
Lowery has momentary wrist control but Emelianenko slips an elbow through the middle.
Lowery wants to sweep but no luck.
Emelianenko wants to pass the guard but Lowery is keeping the position.

Lowery throws his legs up looking for a submission but Emelianenko uses it to pass to side control.

You can see the frustration on Lowery's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Lowery is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Emelianenko is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Lowery is having to fend off submission attempts from Emelianenko, who is looking to sink in the choke. Emelianenko doesn't have the hooks in though and Lowery manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Lowery wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving.

Emelianenko is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lowery is aware though and is defending well.

Lowery throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Emelianenko works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lowery trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Emelianenko is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Lowery is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Emelianenko throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lowery tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Emelianenko is in Lowery's guard.
Lowery wants to control but Emelianenko passes easily into half guard.

Lowery has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Emelianenko is working away from the top position though.
Lowery tries to kick Emelianenko off but Emelianenko keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Lowery is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Emelianenko's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Emelianenko's back!

Fedor Emelianenko dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Emelianenko tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lowery manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Emelianenko bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Lowery is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Emelianenko off and has taken his back!
Emelianenko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lowery. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lowery has the hooks in. Emelianenko is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lowery has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Lowery controlling well, preventing Emelianenko from escaping the position.
Emelianenko is trying to get back to his feet but Lowery has full control of the position and if anything, Emelianenko has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Lowery can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Emelianenko is looking to escape.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Emelianenko can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lowery jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Emelianenko manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Lowery creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Emelianenko sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Lowery is really struggling to control Emelianenko but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Lowery is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fedor Emelianenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Emelianenko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
