The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petyx takes a swing at Snijder's ribcage but misses.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Petyx.
Snijder uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Petyx.
Petyx stuffs the takedown.
Petyx throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Petyx throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Snijder counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Snijder.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Snijder thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Snijder prevents Petyx from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petyx keeping moving, preventing Snijder from controlling successfully.
Petyx knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Snijder on the ground.

Snijder slips nicely into half guard.
Snijder wants to free his trapped foot but Petyx is holding on for dear life with his legs.
My spies in Cozad MMA Rio inform me that Snijder has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Snijder is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Petyx sees it coming and defends easily.

Petyx looks like he's trying to stand up.

Snijder is trying to work for a kimura but Petyx is defending well.

Snijder is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Petyx doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Snijder.

Snijder stalling away here and it's allowed Petyx to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Snijder moves out of range of the strikes.
Snijder keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Petyx cracks Snijder with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

It looks like Brandon Snijder has been cut.

and Snijder counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Snijder works his foot free and advances to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Snijder is working for a guillotine from mount but Petyx frees his head quite easily.
Snijder misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Snijder lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Snijder is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Petyx has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Petyx wants to try and get back to his feet.
