The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Twister shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Twister stops Smith from getting back to his feet.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Twister. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Twister seems to be looking for submissions.
Twister wants to pass to mount but Smith is defending the position.
Twister controlling the pace.
Twister seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smith does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Twister is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Twister wants to work for an arm triangle but Smith is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Twister is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Twister eventually gives up the hold.

Twister is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Smith defends it well.

Smith felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
