Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kraig Benton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Adriano Mulinario!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mulinario tries to clinch but Benton moves away

and Benton moves into the clinch.
Mulinario wants to take the fight to the mat but Benton manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Benton has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mulinario clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Benton keeps control of the position as Mulinario tries to break free.

Mulinario just trying to survive but Benton is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Benton's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

That was a close round but I would say that Kraig Benton will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mulinario misses with a takedown attempt

and Benton counters with a shoot takedown. Mulinario fights it but they end up in guard.

Mulinario is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Benton defends well.

We've been informed that Mulinario has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Mulinario wants to stand but Benton is controlling the position.
Kraig Benton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mulinario has his foot on Benton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Benton works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Benton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Mulinario isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Benton stacks Mulinario on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Benton!

Adriano Mulinario showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Benton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Benton is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Mulinario defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Benton is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Mulinario is defending well though. Benton let's go of the attempt for now.

Mulinario drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mulinario jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mulinario is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Benton has his hands clasped together but Mulinario extends and breaks Benton's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Mulinario.
