PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bowman Rook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marek Jebut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bowman Rook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marek Jebut!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jebut lands with a shot to the body.
The fighters circling - Rook throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Good exchange - Jebut coming out on top.


It looks like Bowman Rook has been cut.
Rook dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jebut. That did some damage!
Rook cracks Jebut with a right hand to the side of the head.
Jebut scores with a jab to the jaw.
Jebut scores with a sloppy right hand. Rook should have avoided that one.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rook throws a shot to the body.

Jebut closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jebut lands in his opponent's guard.

Rook is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jebut defends well.

Rook is looking for a triangle but Jebut pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rook looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jebut is one step ahead there.
Rook is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jebut controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jebut wants to control from the top but Rook keeps moving.
Jebut working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rook manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jebut manages to get himself to full guard.
Rook with a nice head shot there.

Jebut is looking for a triangle here but Rook uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Rook looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rook trying to control the position but Jebut is working away.
Jebut wants to control but Rook postures up.
Jebut is trying to get back to half guard.

Jebut tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rook wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jebut regains half guard there - taking advantage of Rook's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Rook is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jebut is staying active underneath Rook, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jebut trying to control but Rook postures up.
Rook thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Rook throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Rook is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jebut manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Rook loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rook got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jebut has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rook has managed to get both his arms back between Jebut's legs - danger averted.
Jebut lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Rook trying to keep a closed guard but Jebut is proving a slippery customer.

Rook is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jebut pulls his head out easily.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Rook wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jebut missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Jebut winds up and cracks Rook with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Jebut looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rook with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jebut is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Bowman Rook's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Rook misses with a low kick.
Jebut with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Jebut lands an overhand right.
Rook connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jebut jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rook. Jebut does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rook slaps away a takedown attempt from Jebut, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rook dives in and grabs Jebut's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jebut pushes down on Rook's head and hops out.

Jebut tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rook sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jebut somewhat.
Bowman Rook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marek Jebut.

Jebut blocks a head kick by Rook.
Jebut throws a body punch but Rook moves out of range.
Jebut takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Jebut moves out of range of the strikes.
Rook bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jebut throws a body punch but Rook moves out of range.
Jebut avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nice uppercut lands for Jebut. That snapped Rook's head back.
Jebut uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rook.

Jebut keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jebut ducks under a wild hook from Rook.
Jebut looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rook.
Rook walks into a stiff left hand from Jebut.
Jebut slips under a jab.
A telegraphed right hand from Rook misses the target.
Jebut dips to his left and cracks Rook with an uppercut!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rook tries to clinch up but Jebut circles away and keeps his distance.
Rook tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jebut paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Rook fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Jebut checks it well.
Rook is looking to clinch.
Rook tries to land a front kick but Jebut steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Jebut circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rook tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jebut shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rook as he jumps to the side.

Rook fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jebut to the ground. Rook is now in Jebut's guard.
Rook with a flurry of punches that miss.

Rook with a nice head shot there.
Jebut avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Jebut looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jebut wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Rook postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rook is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Jebut has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Rook is looking to defend but Jebut has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Rook! Jebut pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Rook taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Marek Jebut!
A very excited looking Marek Jebut rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
