The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Emelianenko drops Lowery with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Lowery looks back up at him and smiles so Emelianenko waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

It looks like Johnathan Lowery has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lowery is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Emelianenko gets his way!

Lowery is trying to remain composed but Emelianenko is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Lowery is in a bad position with Emelianenko working for a choke. Lowery manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Emelianenko lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Emelianenko makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lowery is breathing heavily.
Emelianenko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lowery can't keep his opponent in guard - Emelianenko advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Emelianenko closes the distance looking for a takedown. Lowery stuffs it but Emelianenko still has hold of him. Emelianenko picks Lowery up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Emelianenko slams Lowery to the floor and that's really hurt Lowery - he doesn't know where he is! Emelianenko throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
