Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rich Andrews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Taslim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Taslim looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Rich Andrews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Taslim!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taslim closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee asks Taslim politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Taslim prefers to stall for the moment though.
Andrews manages to work his way to half guard, despite Taslim's best efforts.

Taslim trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Taslim wants to control from the top but Andrews keeps moving.

Andrews is really struggling to control Taslim but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Rich Andrews has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Andrews shoots in for a double leg but Taslim sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Taslim drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Andrews is pushing Taslim's head away, looking to escape. Taslim manages to hold on to the position though.
Taslim wants to stand but Andrews has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Andrews working for a triangle but Taslim defends it easily.
Andrews seems keen to control Taslim's posture.
Andrews is looking to stand up but Taslim isn't so interested in that idea.

Taslim showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Andrews lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Andrews stands and throws Taslim's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Taslim's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Taslim tries to buck Andrews off but Andrews is having none of it.
Andrews looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Taslim is avoiding damage well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Andrews creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Taslim sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Taslim is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Taslim keeps trying to improve his position.
Andrews landing a few strikes.

Andrews thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Taslim avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Andrews.

Andrews is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Taslim knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Andrews working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taslim tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Andrews wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Andrews is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Taslim is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Taslim is trying to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Taslim wants to control but Andrews postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rich Andrews dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Andrews stuffs the takedown.
Andrews swats away the attempt to clinch by Taslim.
The fight stays on the outside here - Taslim looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Andrews working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Andrews stands and throws Taslim's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Taslim is breathing heavily.
Andrews postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Andrews misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Andrews lands a few punches from side control.
We've been informed that Taslim has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Taslim is looking for a sweep.
Andrews misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Taslim dodges the ground and pound from Andrews.
Taslim is looking to regain half guard here but Andrews keeps moving and retains side control.
Andrews throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Andrews throws an elbow but Taslim slips to the side and avoids it well.
Taslim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Andrews. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Taslim tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Taslim parries the strikes from Andrews easily there. Andrews is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Taslim to escape.

Andrews is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Taslim is trying to escape and Andrews transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Taslim is forced to tap! Nice work there by Andrews! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rich Andrews!
