Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mario Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smolder Stoner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bates comes into the arena with Slayer - Raining Blood blaring out of the sound system. Stoner has chosen Blister in the Sun-violent femmes as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Bates closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stoner's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bates won't allow Stoner to get back to his feet.
Stoner seems keen to control Bates's posture.

Bates tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stoner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stoner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bates moves away.

Stoner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bates was well out of range. Poor timing from Stoner.

Stoner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bates manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Stoner drops an elbow to the side of Bates's head.
Stoner is trying to control. Bates wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Bates takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Bates is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stoner off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Bates's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Bates doesn't have the hooks in and Stoner manages to turn into his guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Stoner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bates has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stoner has managed to get both his arms back between Bates's legs - danger averted.

Bates has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Stoner doesn't defend quickly enough and Bates has managed to lock this one up! Can Stoner escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Bates on a fantastic submission victory.
