Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ruud Gullit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Briggs will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ruud Gullit!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Briggs!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gullit throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Briggs.
Gullit throws a right hand that Briggs ducks under and follows up with a left that Briggs also avoids with ease.
Briggs doesn't manage to clinch there - Gullit circles away.
Gullit throws a series of punches but Briggs moves out of range.
Briggs dodges the punch combination from Gullit.
Gullit swinging wildly here.
Gullit connects with a good right hand that stumbles Briggs. Briggs circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Ruud Gullit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gullit misses with a wild combination.
Briggs shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Briggs slips a jab and a cross from Gullit.
Briggs misses with a looping left.
Gullit keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gullit has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Briggs looking to score a takedown here. Gullit is defending well but Briggs drives through and ends up in Gullit's guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Briggs connects with a nice short shot to Gullit's temple.

Briggs frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Briggs avoids the attempt from Gullit to control.

Gullit tries to lock up and control but Briggs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Briggs jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gullit manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Gullit is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Briggs wants to take a breather but Gullit manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Briggs.

Gullit has Briggs pulled in close to control his posture.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Briggs distracts Gullit with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Briggs keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gullit's head.
Gullit is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Briggs is fighting to break Gullit's control of his arms but Gullit is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Gullit pulls Briggs in close to prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ruud Gullit just wasn't active enough.

Gullit drops Briggs with a beautiful combination! Briggs stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gullit is looking for the KO!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Briggs dodges the punch combination from Gullit.
Briggs is still on wobbly legs! Can Gullit finish him?
Briggs goes for a double leg but Gullit avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gullit continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ruud Gullit will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Briggs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gullit's waist but Gullit gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Briggs off to one side.
Briggs seems to have recovered his senses.
Gullit looks to land a combination but Briggs avoids it well.
Briggs shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gullit sprawls well. Gullit wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Briggs gets slowly back to his feet.

Ruud Gullit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Briggs.
Gullit tries to bum rush Briggs with a series of wild strikes but Briggs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gullit throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Briggs seems to have recovered his senses.
and Gullit counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Briggs! He's just covering up as Gullit starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ruud Gullit!
