Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, George Spiros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Babenco!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spiros doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Babenco counters by moving into the clinch.
Spiros looking to slow down the pace here.

Babenco gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Spiros throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Babenco wanted to stand there but Spiros had control of the position.

Spiros shoots in looking for a takedown but Babenco manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Spiros's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Babenco closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Spiros quickly recovers to half guard.

Spiros has his foot on Babenco's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Babenco works his way back into a safe position though.
Babenco must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
