Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Merle Jacobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Vazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vazquez has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Merle Jacobson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vazquez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Vazquez looks winded!
Jacobson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Vazquez's head.
Vazquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Vazquez tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jacobson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vazquez on the ground.

Jacobson lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Jacobson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vazquez's guard.
Vazquez wants to get back to his feet but Jacobson passes into half guard.
Vazquez is trying to control but Jacobson manages to pass to mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

BOOM! Jacobson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Vazquez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jacobson controlling the pace for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jacobson is working for a guillotine from mount but Vazquez frees his head quite easily.
Vazquez is trying desperately to improve position.

Jacobson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Vazquez really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Jacobson is landing with some decent strikes but Vazquez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
BOOM! Jacobson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The referee warns Vazquez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Jacobson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Vazquez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Vazquez shrugs it off.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jacobson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vazquez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Vazquez has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Vazquez is trying to break free.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jacobson has closed the distance and engaged Vazquez in a clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Jacobson.
Jacobson lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Jacobson has picked Vazquez up - he's going for a ride! Jacobson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Jacobson scores with a big shot! Vazquez's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Vazquez! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
