Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Akihiko Yamato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Halfdan Lodbrok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lodbrok comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Killing in the name of... kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamato tries to land a leg kick but Lodbrok saw it coming and moves away.
Yamato misses the shot to the body.
Yamato looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
A looping hook to the body misses from Yamato. Lodbrok does a little dance to reset his feet.

Yamato has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Yamato wants to slow Lodbrok down by chopping away at his legs.

Lodbrok fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Yamato has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Halfdan Lodbrok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yamato blocks a head kick by Lodbrok.

Yamato throws a low kick but Lodbrok avoids it.

Lodbrok throws out a head kick that Yamato doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Yamato crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Yamato's eyes and has decided to let it go on!

Oh Yamato is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Yamato throws a body punch but Lodbrok moves out of range.

Yamato takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Yamato gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lodbrok.
Lodbrok moves out of range as Yamato throws a body kick.
Yamato throws a leg kick which misses Lodbrok's front leg but catches the back leg as Lodbrok tries to avoid it.
Lodbrok bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Yamato is breathing heavily.
Look low, kick high! Lodbrok uses the oldest trick in the book to send Yamato tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Lodbrok is absolutely delighted - when Yamato wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Halfdan Lodbrok!
Halfdan Lodbrok bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
